Zbig Bryning – Founder & President

Mr. Bryning has over 20 years of experience in the flat panel display and biotech device industry. Bryning has worked in R&D as a senior engineer in multiple companies including Behring Diagnostics, Applied Biosystems, and Exxon Enterprises. As a senior staff engineer in the advanced research and technology department of Applied Biosystems, Bryning originated, proposed, and executed early investigation projects focused on securing IP for emerging technologies and developed reverse emulsion as a medium for manipulating and detecting biomolecules. As a research physicist in the EPID division of Exxon Enterprises, Bryning researched optical performance of electrophoretic displays using waveform addressing, device geometry and active media variables. There Bryning developed a method for X-Y addressing of electrophoretic displays with planar construction. It was at Exxon where he first invented and demonstrated a projection electrophoretic display. Bryning holds a masters degree in Physics from Selisian University in Poland. Bryning currently holds 12 granted patents and awaits approval on 10 that are currently pending.

Remy Cromer – Founder & CTO

Dr. Cromer has over 15 years of experience in the biotechnology industry where he has specialized in creating novel Technology Platforms in Biomaker Discovery and ImmunoDiagnostics to address the needs of Proteomics and Metabolomics. He has extensive experience in nanotechnology-related research. As the Director of Chemistry and Bioanalytical Technologies at Trellis Bioscience, Cromer was responsible for the integration of fluorescence microscopy based multiplexed assays using multihued nanoparticles. Prior to Trellis, Cromer worked at SurroMed and Behring Diagnostics, where he led teams that were responsible for multiplexing technologies using proprietary Nanoparticles. Cromer also works as a consultant in the fields of Microfluidics and Nanotechnology. Cromer received his Ph.D in Organic Chemistry at Universite Louis Pasteur in Strasbourg, France, and completed his post doctoral work at the University of Alberta, Canada (R.U. Lemieux). Cromer is co-author on 15 peer-reviewed publications and is a co-inventor on 8 patents.

Alexander Fries – Chief Business Officer

Mr. Fries began his career as a telecommunications analyst for Credit Suisse, and went on to build and prepare MCI WorldCom in Switzerland for the European telecommunications liberalization.

Mr. Fries then moved on to work as Executive Vice President of sales and marketing for Advance Visual Communications, a Boston-based venture-backed content company sold to USWeb, and as a senior market manager for Europe and Latin America at the Lucent Technologies Wireless Broadband Division.

Mr. Fries brings over 15 years of progressive experience in founding, funding, and managing global businesses that provide technology, products, and services to telecommunication operators, enterprises, and consumers. Most recently, Mr. Fries co-founded and led the marketing, business development, and strategic partnerships teams for SVOX AG, a venture-backed company in Switzerland. On top of SVOX, Mr. Fries has successfully developed three other start-up companies.

Kilian Kentrup – Director, Finance

Prior to joining Zikon, Mr. Kentrup worked as an analyst for the United Nations Industrial Development Organization. There he researched and analyzed Venture Capital in Emerging Markets, with a focus on Venture Capital Investments in India. Prior to his experiences at the UN, Mr. Kentrup held an analyst position at the Assoziazione Compagnia delle Opere, one of Italy’s largest Business Associations, where he provided business development support for small and medium-sized enterprises. He has also led innovation consulting projects for organizations like Siemens and the General Hospital in Vienna. Mr. Kentrup holds a graduate degree from the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration, where he specialized in entrepreneurial finance and was active in the growth and development of the Vienna University Association for Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

Christian Hauch – Vice President, Product Management

Mr. Hauch spent his past 5 years with Nokia in Scandinavia. There he lead various groups in R&D, Marketing and Product Development. Prior to Nokia, Mr. Hauch worked for GREENWOOD ENGINEERING A/S as a Product Manager, and Head of the Hardware Department. Mr. Hauch has an MBA from the University of Melbourne and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Copenhagen.
